Advanced and innovative cell culture tools can help you achieve excellence at every stage of your stem cell culture process.
The concerns over contaminants from animal components and batch-to-batch variability of the coating matrices for human stem cells culture have significantly hindered the usage of these types of surfaces for translational and clinical applications. The Thermo Scientific Nunclon Vita is an energy-treated polystyrene surface free of animal components. It enables culture of human stem cells without matrix or feeder layers. Human embryonic stem (ES) cells are grown directly on the surface in conditioned media containing ROCK-inhibitor, and can be sustained for more than ten passages without signs of differentiation.
Secondly during the session we will present novel temperature responsive surface, ‘Upcell’. Upcell can completely abolish the use of cell damaging proteolytic enzymes such as trypsin. Moreover, when cells are cultured beyond over-confluency, the cells can be collected in a form of thin-film, so-called as "cell-sheet" and it also allows the creation of 3D tissue construct when we stack the cell –sheet.
