| Abstract:
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are endogenous, noncoding RNAs of about 21–23 nucleotides. They are involved in regulation of gene expression during development, differentiation, cell proliferation, and apoptosis. Misregulation of miRNA expression has been implicated in cancer and other diseases. Therefore, miRNA and other related small RNAs, such as siRNA, have become the focus of not only basic research on gene regulation, but also biomarker identification and drug discovery. In this seminar, we will introduce new technologies that can greatly facilitate the workflow for miRNA research, from miRNA isolation, detection, quantification, to functional analysis.
